It happens to all of them… first it a drip every once in awhile. Next thing you know it’s drip, drip, drip…
Leaking faucets are annoying AND they waste water!
Sometimes they can be repaired. The big box home improvement stores and specialty plumbing supply houses sell a variety of internal components that – if you can find the right one, will likely fix that dripping faucet.
The old fashioned ones might have a valve seat and washer that needs to be worked on and replaced – but those are rare these days.
Then there’s the issue with corrosion. If you’re on well water like I am, your faucet may have a fair amount of corrosion built up and depending on where the leak is it may mean it’s time to replace it with a new fixture.
We can repair or replace them – your choice.
If a fixture has some years on it, it may be a good idea to update it with a new one anyway. For instance – kitchen sink fixtures – new models are always coming out that have some pretty amazing features that your old one probably doesn’t!
Bathtub/shower fixtures can fail in other ways.
This spigot was replaced because of a faulty diverter.
If you’ve got the type of spigot that diverts water to the shower head, that’s a common thing to stop working. Diverters tend to corrode and eventually all you get out of the shower head is a trickle while water continues to pour out below. Not only is this annoying but it wastes water too – and as an aside if you go to sell your home, an inspector will note a malfunctioning diverter.
